In Episode 88 of the Not Your Mother's Pelvic Floor podcast, Aliya chats with the co-founders of This Is Perimenopause, Michelle Stainton + Mikelle Ethier.
In this episode, you'll hear Michelle, Mikelle, and Aliya chat about:
Whether Michelle + Mikelle want their mother's pelvic floor...or not!
Where Michelle + Mikelle learned about sex and the role that Catholic guilt and fear played in sex education at home.
How Michelle + Mikelle are talking about bodies, sex, periods, and more with their children.
The memories Michelle + Mikelle have of their mothers going through the menopause transition.
How terrifying perimenopausal mood changes can be, including Aliya's recent experience with high levels of anxiety, Michelle's intense rage, and Mikelle's decreased stress tolerance.
How the "This Is Perimenopause" resource hub and community was created.
About Michelle Stainton + Mikelle Ethier:
Michelle Stainton is an entrepreneur, customer service enthusiast. After years in marketing and communications across virtually every sector imaginable, life threw Michelle a curveball... perimenopause. She was blindsided. The lack of information was shocking, and the support practically non-existent. While commiserating with her bestie, Mikelle Ethier, they decided to do something about this and This Is Perimenopause was born.
Mikelle Ethier is a recovering banker with a passion for shaking up the status quo.
Her own journey through perimenopause, now 9-years-and-counting, is what drives her everyday to work toward a world where every person with ovaries is informed, empowered, and heard.
Together, Michelle + Mikelle are creating the community and resource hub they desperately wished for when perimenopause turned their lives upside down. A place where straightforward information meets practical advice. This Is Perimenopause isn’t just about hot flashes and irregular periods. It’s about all the stuff we face during this stage of life. Because it’s impossible to tell where perimenopause ends and everyday life begins.
