Episode 58: Emotions, Endometriosis, and Energy with Emma Jack

In Episode 58 of the Not Your Mother's Pelvic Floor podcast, Aliya chats with Physiotherapist and Coach Emma Jack all about endometriosis, sex, pelvic pain + all the emotions that show up in her life as an endo warrior.

In this episode, you'll hear Emma and Aliya discuss:

  • The way Emma and her sisters were raised and the types of conversations that were (or weren't) had in her home.

  • How Cosmopolitan magazine and Sex with Sue taught Emma the things she didn't learn at home.

  • Emma's first signs of endometriosis at the age of 12 and how she didn't know that anything was wrong.

  • How she wasn't diagnosed with endometriosis until January of 2024 despite experiencing symptoms since her very first period.

  • How allowing herself to be human changed her energy and capacity to show up for others in her life, including her patients.

  • Her journey from Physiotherapist to Coach and what shaped that unintentional transition.

  • How suffering comes from trying to stay the same - and where Emma learned this powerful lesson.

  • Emma's transformative journaling practice of raging onto paper.

  • That one time that Emma made Aliya cry a lot.

ABOUT EMMA:
Emma is a certified sport and orthopaedic physiotherapist who owns Press Play Physiotherapy and Pilates in London, Ontario and she's travelled the world as a lead therapist with the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team.

While these accomplishments bring a sense of pride, Emma also acknowledges that they also contributed to feelings of intense anxiety, chronic stress, numerous health issues, and deep burnout. Emma has since transformed her clinical practice and life in recent years to ensure that her achievements no longer define her. She now dedicates much of her time to working as a certified coach, helping other women in healthcare show up fully for their lives and careers in a way that feels authentic, sustainable, and, most importantly, fun!
